We'll be back in March 2012 :)

The kids club will start up again at 9.00am on Saturday 3rd March at Linlithgow Leisure Centre

Welcome to West Lothian Clarion Kids Club

In May 2010, we launched a kids' cycling club for ages 6-15. The aim is to introduce children to cycling in a safe, traffic-free environment and develop their cycling skills with fun activities.

The club has six level-2 coaches trained up by ScottishCycling's Go-Ride programme. The coaches will supervise and deliver coaching sessions using a variety of fun games and activities.

cost

The first session is free.

The sessions run from the beginning of March to the end of November and are split into three terms .

March to May

June to August

September to November

Each term costs £24 and this includes session fees, membership to West Lothian Clarion and membership to the National Clarion.

Kids joining part way through a term will pay on a pro rata basis.

where

We meet at the Grounds of Oracle on Blackness Road, Linlithgow

when

Sessions are 90 minutes long. during the Summer they take place on a Wednesday evening starting at 6.30pm. In the Autumn and early Spring they take place on a Saturday morning at 9.00am.

session structure

Sessions start with a bike, helmet and clothing check followed by a warm up.

The riders are split into 3 ability groups - Black, Red and Blue and are coached in bike handling skills, which will develop all aspects of bike riding, including racing in a safe traffic-free environment.

The sessions will finish with a fun challenge (eg race or relay) and, finally, a warm down.

All activities will be monitored by the fully trained volunteer coaches.
